Diploma Fee Reimbursements
With the diploma projects freshly completed, it’s time to address a critical issue for the next academic year. On May 29, 2023, Work Master students expressed their frustration regarding the school’s current reimbursement policy, which appears to favor those with personal financial means. Under the title “FOR 100% DIPLOMA FEE REIMBURSEMENT, FOR AN ACCESSIBLE AND INCLUSIVE SCHOOL,” we championed this mission through an open letter, even after other students had completed their studies. Following discussions with the administration, it has become evident that achieving more equitable solutions without increasing the overall budget is challenging.
Today, we propose a simple and practical solution that could be implemented as early as next year:
Allocate 10% of reimbursed fees onto the student card, usable for workshops and printing. If not feasible, allocate 5% for printing and 5% for workshops.
This initiative would enable students to conduct tests and launch their diploma projects. We acknowledge that some departments may benefit less from this arrangement and that a more equitable system could be explored in the future. Nonetheless, we believe this represents an important initial step that can be easily implemented starting next year. In solidarity with the most financially vulnerable students, we seek your support for this initiative.
We are reaching out to seek your approval via email to implement this measure next year. We eagerly await your endorsement of this idea, as well as any other proposals or suggestions you may have. It is crucial that any solution be straightforward to implement across the entire school.
